Today, the world of television lost an icon. Sherwood Schwartz died today at the age of 94. Most people may not recognize the name, but everyone will recognize several of his many television creations, The Brady Bunch and Gilligan’s Island being the most famous. In addition to creating, producing, and writing television series, Schwartz is also credited with several theme songs, including the songs for both The Brady Bunch and Gilligan’s Island. I have seen several interviews with Schwartz over the years, and he was clearly a talented man. His legend lives on in the world of television, which as we have seen, creates an immortality all its own. His creativity will be what he is remembered for. Today’s television lineup could use a touch of Schwartz’s magic!
